Our Staff
We place exceptional value on the exceptional people who work as part of the staffing team at St. Andrews House. From the moment someone joins us they are integrated into the team on the basis of level of skill and knowledge.Training
All of the staff undertake yearly updates of legislative training such as First Aid, Manual Handling and Fire. In addition to this we have a challenging and varied training programme. This is drawn up each year and will provide the staff with ample opportunity to learn and develop, not only as employees of St. Andrews, but benefit them in terms of personal development as well.
All staff have a period of induction training upon joining the team and this is backed up by on-going professional development as denoted by the Skills for Care Council.
Most members of staff have either finished or are actively pursuing NVQs at either Level 2 or 3. Our Manager is a qualified NVQ Assessor which speeds up the process of these qualifications.
We have recently been re-awarded the IIP charter mark and are currently setting in place new procedures which will ensure that this is renewed at the time of our next review.
SALLY RHODES - REGISTERED MANAGER
The manager is Sally Rhodes who has 14 years experience in care. Her qualifications include both NVQs 2, 3 and 4 in Direct Care - NVQ 4 in Management as well as the Registered Managers Award. Sally also qualified recently as a professional trainer. Her stated aim is to continue to drive the home forward and build on the successes that the team has already achieved.

HELEN COOK - HEAD OF CARE/DRUGS ADMINISTRATION
Helen has 15 years experience in the care industry. She has been a Home Care Co-ordinator which meant running a busy office and juggling schedules for clients and staff. More recently she has spent 2 years in a hospital in Wales working in a mental health unit. She is dedicated to ensuring the team delivers the highest possible care standards to our clients.

CHRIS GEORGE
Chis has been a senior member of the night staff team for some years now. Recently she has undertaken some day time duties as well which allow her to head up and run our mobile shop. Chris brings energy and enthusiasm to this role and ensures that clients have access to day to day necessities without necessarily having to leave the building or ask others to shop for them. Chris is currently undertaking an NVQ to add to her many other qualifications.

LYN PARSONS
Lyn Parsons is our Chef/Kitchen Manager and is responsible for ensuring that the clients receive well cooked, balanced and nutritious diets. She produces exciting and appetising new menus twice a year which are drawn up after extensive consultation with our clients. Lyn has recently been on 2 courses at the nationally recognised Ashburton Cookery School and will soon be expanding her range of mouth watering cakes, pastries and desserts!

ANNE DIAMOND
Anne has been with us for 5 years and is an essential part of the team. She provides back up for the ordering and dispensing of medications as well as being a lynch pin in the organisation of the activities programme for the home.

NICKI LEGASSICK - INFECTION CONTROL
Nicki has been a valuable part of the night care team for over 2 years. She has several relevant qualificiations including NVQ3 in care. Nicki has recently agreed to take on some extra day duties and other responsibilities which includes the role of Infection Control Officer. We are pro-active in the vital area of the prevention of problems. We constantly monitor and evaluate the package of preventative measures we have in place.
Nicki has been a valuable part of the night care team for over 2 years. She has several relevant qualificiations including NVQ3 in care. Nicki has recently agreed to take on some extra day duties and other responsibilities which includes the role of Infection Control Officer. Jean joined the team initially as a day carer but has since moved to nights. Her experience and calmness ensures that clients are in safe hands. Jean is also in charge of the twice weekly armchair aerobic sessions which is one of the most popular activities that we provide. Her classes are always full and provide expertly guided exercises for our residents. Jean is currently undertaking her NVQ3 in Care.

Chris joined us over 2 years ago from another local home bringing with her years of experience and knoweldge about keeping the environment clean and safe. Chris has kept up to date with equipment use as well as expanding her knowledge about safe cleaning techniques, especially with regard to infection control, which is key to providing a safe and clean environment for our residents.
